My daughter is almost 8 months old (in a week and a day) but she has shown no interset in crawling whatsoever. She is tho taking steps when we have her in a standing position. I've heard that walking before crawling is a bad thing, but i've also heard that crawling is more of an optional milestone. She is otherwise devloping fine and can hold herself up while on her stomach, She we be worried about letting her walk first?

theres nothing wrong with that. my son seemed to want to start walking right off the bat, but eventually figgured that in order to get somewhere himself (he's always been insanely independant) he'd better crawl. but look out! once they crawl your home better be baby proof, and it's not too long after that they walk! (that's when the real fun begins!) if she really wants to walk first, she will! and it'll be ok. (i'm pretty sure that one or two of my neices started walking first, and they are all ok)

Some babies choose to skip crawling and go straight to walking, don't worry about her walking first. All children develop differently. My daughter crawled for maybe a week and then once she got up and figured out walking was quicker and easier that was the end of the crawling, she was 9 months when she started walking.

Some babies never crawl at all. There is nothing wrong with that. Also, she could still crawl. My daughter was 8 1/2 months old before she started actually crawling.

Crawling is an optional milestone. Some babies never crawl and move right into walking. Your baby is fine. She may eventually decide that walking is a little too precarious and choose crawling for a while.

I wouldn't worry too much. She will crawl in her own time. She might just skip over crawling and go right to walking. Don't worry, just enjoy you daughter. Good Luck!
