If you read the screenplay, it says something about there being a glow, a golden sheen, something that is mysterious and not 100% clear. Quentin Tarantino meant it to be unclear, something "transcendent" and all that...

ok, this question is asked about once every 3rd day. you're not SUPPOSED to know. it could be gold because of the way it glows, but as far as specualtion goes, that's it. its deliberatly left a mystery, Tarantino said so himself
