Hmmm... it would really depend on what angle you're goin with the project. Is it a paper? A video? A powerpoint?

While ghosts are interesting, it's hard to get anything good to put into a project. Very difficult topic to do. I'd stay away.

Karate would need an angle. Like, perhaps the history of it... where it came from and what it is today.

Obesity is one big can of worms, but you can do a lot with it as long as you narrow it down a bit. So....
-Obesity in America compared to elsewhere overseas
-Obesity trends in America over the last fifty years
-The effects of obesity on the human body
-Personal responsibility vs. government liability in obesity
-Obesity in pop culture
-Social effects of obesity (possibly as compared to smokers)
....lots of different choices that can all be interesting.

Around here, there are lots of projects about the local effects of the War on Terror. Is there a VA hospital where you live? A military base? A national guard armory? A reserve center? Any local servicemembers? Any local servicemembers killed or wounded in action? People have been doing a lot about how the effects of the war are so close in the community and yet very few people realize it. Just a thought...

Anorexia and Ghosts pulled me in right away. Obesity? No one wants to feel bad about him/herself. Karate? Please, not for the girls. Cooking? I love cooking, but c'mon, it's totally lame compared to Anorexia or your Supernatural idea.

I would stay away from things like Anorexia and Obesity since they are both touchy subjects for school students. Try something Like what careers are they going to pursue. It gives them a better idea of what there in for BEFORE they head off to collage....
