I think so as well, and the fact that it was based off a real life situation only adds to the sadness. :'(

Yes, i definatly agree that Grave of the Fireflies is definatly one of the saddest films ever made. It's hard to go through the movie and not feel like crying during some of the scenes, and it's even more harder when you realize/know that it was based off of true events that really did happen, so knowing alot of what you see was true, makes it even more sadder.
Barefoot Gen, good anime based off of World War II is also another really sad film based on a persons recolections of the war.

It so, so sad! I was so angry when my older brother laughed at me and just said, " I can't believe that anime stuff makes you cry!" How evil is that? Who in their right minds wouldn't find it sad?
