try thinning them down with water and a blender/food processor, he might be a late bloomer or just have trouble swallowing in general.
still discuss any problems he is having with your pediatrician, it could be he's just not ready for them yet.

He's only 9 months old, HE"S NOT READY FOR THICK FOODS YET. if he gags and throws up when you try giving it to him then STOP GIVING IT TO HIM. KEEP HIM ON BABY FOOD UNTIL HE GETS OLDER. USE SOME COMMON SINCE.

You should take him to see the Pediatrician. My sister had similar symptoms and although I can't explain it in tech terms (not a Doc) basically the flap in your throat that opens and closes when you breath or swallow-- wasn't closing. So when she would eat it would trigger a gag reflex because her body thought it was choking...
Hope this helps.. good luck and hope the little guy gets better.

He may not be ready for the thick foods yet. All babies do different stages at different times. Just give him time he should start being able to eat the thicker foods. If not consult his doctor.

Is he tongue thrusting? I would have him looked at maybe his gag reflex or the frenulum under his tongue maybe to short.
Take him to the doctors and have his mouth and throat checked throughly! If they can't give you any answers go to an ear nose and throat doctor!
