I'd say Florida has mostly retired people who are on Medicare. This is a federal program so I think Florida STATE spends the least since the feds take care of most of them.

I'd have to go for New York, simply because one lesson of hurricane Katrina was that Florida didn't even rank with the authorities as a place deserving of post-disaster care.

I think from the latest study I saw it was California. One thing besides its large population that pushes this is that its state also has been hit with a major medical crisis caring for illegal immigrants and their families. California is that state whose budget has been hit hardest by this. Plus overall medical costs in Calif are highest for many services thus driving their spending needs.

to be honest I think it is maine. A lot of the health care in NY is paid for with priviate funding. as I have a friend has used the cllinc funded with money from Brad pitt , and mrs preston ( john travolta's wife) I forget her first name. A lot of 911 victims have used this clinc.

Medicare would be the only one to know for sure..give them a call at 1-800-MEDICARE....It is possible you might be able to find statistics on the internet....
