What size dollhouse are you looking at making? How handy are you? Is it for play or display? We'll need more detail to help you.

Check your library for resources on building dollhouses. If you can get a group of volunteers, maybe they can each take a room and work on it so one person doesn't end up doing everything.

You can take an inexpensive wooden bookshelf and set it up like a multi floored dollhouse using furniture you make yourself.

Don't forget to check yard and garage sales this spring - there are sure to be lots of parents cleaning out their basements and attics and getting rid of a lot of old toys. I would advise sticking with plastic pieces instead of fabrics, unless the fabrics can be easily cleaned and sanitized. I bet you can find some great stuff at yard sales, and maybe even a full dollhouse.

Since it's for your church, put an ad or an announcement in your church bulletin or on the bulletin board that you're looking for donations. Maybe your fellow parishoners will have items they can donate, or be willing to donate their crafty services.

The first dollhouse my grandmother made started a tradition for her and I which has since resulted in 6 houses, a general store and an entire room in my home becoming the "dollhouse room" for display purposes!

You can buy plans for houses or find them in books. You can also buy kits that are pre-fab to put together and detail yourself. All of our houses are also wired with electricity. You can get books at the book store, look up plans and ideas online in the links above or check the site below for books, kits, ideas, houses and tips!
