I am a babysitter/nanny for an infant girl and I am payed $100 a day. I care for the infant from 8:30am-5:30pm, Monday - Friday.
You should check out www.sittercity.com . It's a great site that helps babysitters, nannies and parents find each other. You can require certain qualifications like CPR certified, First Aid training, etc. You can also perform background checks on any babysitter/parent you want. There is also a "Tips & Resources" section that has tons of information in it. One of the things is a Rate Calculator. You just put in your zip code and some other factors and it gives you the average rate (per hour) for your area.
Hope this helps!
Good luck.

We pay 125 a week for infant care in a woman's private home. I think once my baby reaches a certain age (like 1) the price drops to 100 a week

Depends on where you live and what type of care. In home childcare would run about $125-$130 a week here in Austin, Tx. Centers can run up to $200 per week and can vary a great deal.

I'm in a medium-sized town in Texas. My kids (preschool age) go to daycare for 85 dollars a week, each. I think the infant classes are around 100 a week.
We also lived in a large city in Tennessee, and it was around 125 each there, for the same size preschool.

depends.
places like Kindercare are pretty expensive.
work co-ops are a little cheaper.
community and church co-ops are way cheaper!
the quality of care is way different though. at kindercare (and other corporate childcare places) the staff is all trained. in co-ops,part of the staff are professionals and then parents come in and take care of thier child and other children.
