It's the kind you get at Home Depot that comes on a roll and is applied with soap and water. I've tried a bunch of things but it comes off like a stubborn price tag-it leaves remenence. I tried razor blade but still only tiny peaces at a time.

we had that film on our windows too. we sprayed a mixture of soap and water on as you did to apply it then we were able to peel it off, it came off easy, start at the top of the window at the right and left sides just pull on the edges real slow and spray as you go. we put towels at the bottom to catch all the liquid. then just cleaned the windows after and they were clean. good luck
