I think contacts are handy from what I've heard. I wear glasses too and have thought about getting contacts, but I'm scared to touch my eyes. Good luck.

I've been wearing glasses for 23 years, since I was six years old. I tried contacts for awhile when I was 19, and I found them harder to deal with. I had to make sure they were in properly, properly clean them daily, and they popped out a few times. Oy. Fourtunately, they were a free trial thing. I still have my glasses and I'm happy with them. They don't pop out, they clean easily, and not being tiny and see through, I don't have trouble finding them. I just put them on in the morning when I get up, and set them on my night stand at night when I go to bed.

However, in terms of eyesight, I'm still blessed. If I had to, I could go without my glasses and have. (A couple of summers ago, my husband and I were in NYC and my glasses found their way on the floor and under my hsuband's foot. Oops. After we got home, I resorted to my big old glasses from high school and out of the house, I didn't wear them. After about four months, though, we got me some new frames for my lenses from the broken pair.) Also, I can wear regular sunglasses. If I'm driving, I'll just put the sunglasses on over my glasses. Not very attractive, but safe. Every other time, I just put them on and my glasses off.

I just got new glasses about a month ago. A lense in my new frames (that I've had for a couple of years) would pop out on occasion and one popped out, and I couldn't find it. So, for the day, I resorted to my old glasses again. That day, my husband called Lens Crafters and I got my new glasses a week later, because they had to order something.

As has been said, only you can decide. See if you can get a trial pair just to see what you think. This way, you can try them without the cost/commitment. Also, there are always those goofy looking sports goggles. There might also be some tight straps as well, but if there is still the risk of a ball wacking you in the face and still cracking the glasses.

I hope I've been of help.

They are the best thing that has ever Hap-pend to me!!!!!! LOL, okay maybe not the BEST thing but I Love Em. They are really Handy about 3 Weeks to a month after you've been wearing them. But when you first get them you'll really get aggravated because teaching your eye to get used to having something in it and having something coming towards it (Your Finger) Takes a while, but after that you'll love them. So when you get your contacts Don't get Discouraged because you'll get it eventually. Oh yea The reason they are better than glasses: You don't have to clean them when something splashes them, you keep them on all day non-stop, for some people it makes them look better, you have better peripheral Vision which is good for driving, and you can wear them under your googles while swimming. Contact lenses were basically made for active people.

Good Luck

Well the main reason I don't have them is that I don't always need the glasses. It would be silly to have to take them out all the time. They cost a lot in the long run too. NO shame in wearing glasses. There are a lot of really cool styles now.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my contacts. They are a hassle sometimes, like when you get a speck of dust under one of them, but all you have to do it take it out and clean it, then it's fine. Glasses are a lot harder to deal with, contrary to popular belief. It's not hard to put my contacts in, or take them out. It doesn't feel like I'm touching my eye, because the contact is the only thing I touch. After they're in, you can't even feel them. I forget that I'm wearing mine all the time.

I think they are both i have worn glasses forever it seems and i had contacts when i was a teen, and they were great cause i could wear normal sunglasses and things of that nature but..... you have to stick them in your eye , and make sure they are clean and go forbid something get under them while your putting them in your eye it hurts like HE!!!!. In the long run it is you and only you who can really decide if it is worth it i would love to have them again but i just can't take the whole putting them in my eye thing.

Hey, I have been wearing glasses for 2 1/2 years and wished I had contacts! But then I got contacts and I hated putting them in... my mom made me wear them for a while and then I finally said I am not wearing them any more... i know that they make me see better but I really hate them!!!

You should look into laser eye surgery. Yes it can be exspensive but it pays for itself in the long run. Just think - you will never have to wear glasses or contacts again
