Can Endometriosis return after surgery that I had 2 months ago? I am not taking birth control because I was going to get pregnant in June, and I'm not taking birth control, but I have been having some cramping again, even after my period, etc. Is that normal?

The symptoms will always come back if the disease is not thoroughly removed from all areas. It needs to be totally and meticulously excised from all areas in order to have the best chance for long term relief. There is no absolute cure, but the specialty centers all seem to maintain around a 20% recurrence rate long term, versus 60% recurrence within the very first year with superficial vaporizations, medical suppressions, etc. Look into the following centers for more info:

Good luck to you.

My best friend had surgery 3 years ago for her Endo. and she is going in on the 30th of this month for another surgery. Sorry to inform you, but yes it can return. I've watched my best friend suffer with it, and I know how awful it is, I'm so sorry you have it. She constantly has cramps and is in pain. Her Dr. has told her she has to be on Birth Control or Pregnant until the point it gets so bad she needs a hysterectomy (sp?), not trying to scare you, but maybe her case is more severe than yours.

My best friend DID conceive after the surgery and now has a happy, healthy 22 Month old daughter so I know you CAN get pregnant (and get some relief!) after having the surgery.

Good Luck Hun!

It can return. I've had to operations two years apart. During my csection the Dr. removed more. I could tell I had the ovarian cysts, but didn't know about the endo. It could be your hormones.Endo. can cause infertility, it took me 5 years(I have stage 4).
