Oh, oh, your browser has been taken over by some nasty piece of malware you have picked up from the Internet.

These are really nasty buggers to get rid of. I once had to completely reinstall my operating system to get rid of this. Solutions may involve delving into your registry, which is fraught with hazards.

Try to remove it with spyware software like Ad-aware or Spysweeper, but be aware these and other programs might only tell you that the malware is there but be unable to get rid of it.

Did you create any restore points? This might (or might not) allow you to get back to an uninfected state.

Standard prevention is to use good antyspyware/antivirus software, only browse the Internet under a non-administrative account, don't visit porn sites, don't run "free" programs you can download like "free screen savers", etc,, never open up email from a source you do not know, and many others.

Non-standard prevention, which really works (but most people are unwilling to try) is to only browse the Internet using Linux or a Mac. Get hold of or download Knoppix, a CD-based Linux operating system that is completely immune to viruses since it runs from a read-only disk. www.knoppix.org
