Kafka's Large Insect in his novel " Metamorphosis"
He needed to escape the disdain, disapproval, hatred his family had for him, before he had been transformed through the power of his desperation and imagination, into a disgusting BUG! Needed to shockingly deceive his familial tormentors through his metamorphosis into a disgusting Giant Bug!
And his desire for the refuge through illusion - (again : the transformation into a Bug) would in some warped, self demeaning way, self recrimination) would satisfy a relief to his desperate situation.
