My iron started expelling a brown liquid (rust?) the other day. What's the best way to clean out the inside?

Vinegar! You place a mixture of water and vinegar, about half and half, inside the iron. Let it heat up and steam for several minutes. This will break up the sludge and rust particles. Sometimes, you may have to do this 2 or 3 times.
Caution! Don't breath in the fumes, directly. Some people have adverse reactions. To be safe, do it in a well ventilated area.

vinegar and water. mix 1/2 &1/2 put it in the iron and turn it on to heat. turn it off and let it sit. shake it a bit then dump it. get distilled water and rinse it afterward. always use distilled water in your iron to prevent this from happening.
