It expresses how they feel either at that moment or just in general. I know it must be annoying, but how many black and spanish people *like myself* say "OH SH*T" and "Aw snap" all the time, it just expresses an emotion of some sort. ^-^ PUAHA okay. Enjoy :P

Here, here. This is one of the best questions I've seen on here and finally some evidence some one is actually thinking and using their wits. We need a LOT more of this to counteract both their arrogance and ignorance.
So many Yankees think their English is so correct and constantly moan and groan about Southerners and black people in general yet what is so correct about describing everything as "bitching" and all this corporate bizspeak like "touching base" all the time - what are you some astronaut? How about pronouncing the word "Don" and "Dawn" the same or "Ian" and "Ann" or better yet "Mary", "merry" and "marry" all identically. Most black people and Southerners don't do that! Another thing they started is all this valley girl mess where they suddenly shift from past tense to present by saying "and he was like" for "and he said" or "and I was all" for "and I thought". . .Some bimbos have lost the ability to express themselves in the past tense and hardly any black person does this in a major way but do they complain about this? Nooo!
I like the way some get on here and get so insulted yet how offended do they get if people get on here and say we sound stupid? My favourite is how they changed the way English is spelt yet they go nuts over anything British and guess who gets the blame for changing things on the American side? Yep. Hypocrites to the highest.

Really what is speaking proper English, no one Hardley speaks proper English, that's called slang language. Answer to your question is the same answer to the question to Why do black people say WHATS UP OR YOU KNOW! just SOMETHING TO SAY! All white people do not say those above phrases.

What you are quoteing here is teenage slang, not regular speach. And speaking propperly is the only way I know how to get my precise message acoss. If you choose sloppy slang and are misunderstrood, you can't blame anyone but yourself, like, you know, dude?

I'm white....
I don't call people "dude". I use the word "like" when making comparisons and say "awesome" only when truly awed by something.
How long have you been a racist?

That's like a white person saying "Why do all black people talk ghetto?".... and they don't. And it's the same with white people. Stop sterotyping.

Not all of them do. Try getting out of your area more. You could be talking about a regional difference.
