Unfortunately, geobotany is still in its infancy, and not much is known about the geological influence behind the growth of a particular plant. Holy basil is, as you know, quite a common plant in Indian subcontinent and can be grown easily in a variety of climatic and geolgic conditions.
If you want to know the geological factors controlling the particular land in question, you should try to determine the soil thickness, nature of soil (residual/transported), slope, parent rock, amount of annual rainfall, drainage etc., before trying to draw a conclusion.
