Superstition - my dear friend is when you can't explain something with our limited knowledge. It does not mean it is false, it just indicates we dont know! The superstition when dissected and explained becomes belief and science :) So considering our limited intelligence let us not condemn or support any beliefs as superstitions.
I can quote plethora of examples where Hindu way of life was considered superficial, full of superstitions, indian rope trick (ha ha ha). But today the world swears by Yoga, Vedas etc. From the realms of superstitions it is gradually being adapted into science :-)
The belief pertaining to 13 (my conscience does not permit me to call it superstition), primarily because it was believed that there were 13 occupants on the table during The Last Supper :-)
The other reason is that in the ancient times, nothing beyond 12 was known (or knowledge at that time was limited to 12) 12 months, 12 constellations, even counting was done with 10 fingers and 1 foot each to make total count of 12. Hence anything beyond the known was considered dangerous. It pretty much explains my earlier assertion that anyting beyond logical knowledge is considered superstition by the so called rationalist, till they are proven wrong.

Well Sals... actually I'm not superstitious. If I lived during the Middle Ages, sure I'd be ..
Here in Brazil superstitious people think that when a black cat cross their way on the street/lane etc., it will bring some kind of, you know, bad luck (má sorte). It is racionally nonsense.
There is an artist, Roberto Carlos, that always get on stage with his right step; always get off the house where he performed by the same door where by he got in; he always start his performance by saying a same thing... That's the stupidiest thing one person could achieve!
I think a little of superstitious is okay but not too much.
So, I'm not superstitiou...

Hi ! No I am not superstitious myself.
However the rumours behind superstitions date back to medi evil times around the 16th Century when superstition was rife.
I will say this. Superstitious belief can only have as much power as you give it. You can rebuke it in the name of Jesus and it cannot harm you.
Keep an open mind!

How did Friday the 13th get such a bum rap in the first place? Primitive men were terrified by anything they didn't see or understand. They counted by using their 10 fingers and two feet which amounted to 12. After 12 came the unknown. The number was not popular in Italy, either. In Ancient Rome, witches met in groups of 12 with the devil making the 13th member.
And Friday? Because of the Crucifixion, Friday became known as an unlucky day. Ancient manuscripts hint that Eve also fed Adam the apple on a Friday, and Cain is supposed to have slain his brother Abel on a Friday.

All superstition is nonsense.
I used to be superstitious because I came from a family that's into all that. However when examined even at the slightest depth it all is show to be irrelevant.
Take 13 - in some cultures its unlucky - in others its lucky. What about walking under a ladder - well that's just commonsense - if someone is up it you may get something fall on your head.
It is so liberating to dump the lot.

Hey! am not superstitious at all...
And that's all false that if a cat cross your way you'll have bad time
To proof this i have a real life example from my life:
Once i was walking to play with my friends and a cat crossed my way and don't bothering about it i walked on to my freinds and can you believe i won all the games we played. Not only that when i came back to home my mom gave me self-made chocolate cake and the whole day was as wonderful as never before!!
But if you will believe in this then it may harm you...

It's a black cat crossing your path(black cats were associated with witchcraft), also walking under a ladder(which is just being uncautious), If you break a mirror you'll have seven years bad luck(because some believed your reflection held your soul and if the mirror broke you fractured your soul - though I'm not sure why only seven years, perhaps because of the biblical aspects to the number seven), a rocking chair rocking with no one in it means someone will die(I need to look into that one).

I do not consider myself to be superstitious. What does a black cat crossing someone's path have to do with bad luck? What is the causal link between these two things? It just does not make sense to me.
