Both my turtle and fish live in the same tank (10 gallon). They have coexisted for nearly a year, and quite peacefully. The turtle no longer eats worms, crickets, or brine -- he only wants to eat the fish flakes. Is this normal? Neither of them seem to be growing but they are otherwise healthy and playful.

Sounds like my turtle, he lives in a 55gal. You should get a larger tank, they sell 55gals at walmart with set-up supplies for about $180, good investment. My turtle loves eating the color bits that I feed my fish.

It doesn't sound normal, so try to mix up the food. freeze dried krill, bbay shrimp, feeder goldfish(cut up so he doesn't recognize fish as food) and mealworms, waxworms(not many, too high in fat), crickets, and things like that. Try dusting the crickets w/ calcium, sometimes they really like that.

But mainly, try to move him to a larger tank.

Have fun!

you should have a way bigger tank for a turtle, and if you leave the fish in with the turtle, the turtle is at risk to eye infections and diseases. dont know if fish food is bad for turtles though.
