Because it leads to greediness and selfishness. People keep wanting more and more and don't care if someone drops dead from hunger as long as they can have a plasma TV in every room. They don't care who died for their diamond rings, they just want the damn bling bling.

Materialism is ruining the environment and making people care more about stupid stuff than the well-being of fellow humans.

Because materialists are vain and shallow. They have a false impression of whats really important in life. They live well above their means, piling on credit card debt and pretending to be happy just because they have their material possessions. Although they truly are fighting depression because their financial situation has stretched their emotions thin. They want to live like their idols on television even though they don't make 1/10th of the money that these overpaid celebrities make.

if you mean the theory of Karl Marx ,

maybe its because of these reasons:

1-they believe that everything and every situation in the history has an economical root, meant they surly have a reason that is touchable, other wise they are not true.
this is while most of the adventures and things in this world can not be justified that way, for example, we believe Jesus had no father, they cannot accept this and will say it has not a scintific proof.
2-Karl Marx economic development theory, was wrong.

the new economy has proved it.

lots of other reasons that cannot be said in this short time.

Because it's annoying. People drive around in $100,000 :his & Her" Mercedes, Then their house gets forclosed on. Who are they trying to kid? If they live in my neighborhood - I know what they house is worth. And if you can't afford the morgage on a house that I can afford - who do you think you are kidding by driving around 2 $100,000 cars? Was I supposed to be impressed? No, I just get a kick when these people get what's coming to them. Hopefully after they lose all their "precious material things" they will learn what is really imporant.

"Bother"...I have some wisdom/experience on the subject but "bother" me ~ I watch it bother others who consume themselves by worshiping things vs or instead of being wealthy and having the luxury of peaceful lives. This obviously does not include all who are fortunate with both and definately excludes the observation of those who have figured it out.

It doesn't. If I said it did, I'd be a hypocrite, posting Q&A here on YA.

It really doesn't bother me, why does it bother you enough to ask the question?
