Is their any future for music of any genre or will we come to a musical stalemate with every idea used?

I believe every note/lyric/riff/idea has been used. To prove this can anyone name a band that are totally original from the last 25 years?

Nobody really thinks up or makes their own music. Every note they use has already been used sometime in the past; they just happen to be the first person to put all their notes together in a specific order, thus creating a new song. Every musician/singer/songwriter always plays or sings or writes music that reflects their own personality. Since every person is different, then theoretically speaking, all music should be different. But, let's say one artist likes the music of an other artist; that will influence the music he writes. Every artist, famous and novice, has someone (usaully several people) they looked to for musical inspiration sometime throughout their musical career. So, to answer your ???, all music is a meld of styles combined with individual personality, mixed by the artist that created it. That's why music in any given genre has a distinctly similar relationship to each other. As new artists emerge, they add a little piece of themselves to the music or genre, and since no two persons are really, totally psychologically identical, music will continue to grow with new ideas, and occasionally new genres for as long as people are interested in music.

Music will keep moving on and progressing. Maybe sometime in the future, every guitar riff possible will have been done. Maybe lyrically music has been exhausted in the future.

The strange thing is, people forget about old music, and that provides some leeway for musicians to take influence from and make their own sound from other influences.

Of course there is!!! hip hop, Rock, Pop....they will all have a future.

Even if every idea is used...people will still listen to it and enjoy it. There is plenty music on the radio today that has been recycled from another song in the past. Good music is good music is good music. No matter what!
