It stems from the adage-- hurting people hurt others. But i have learned that words only have the power that we give them. Ergo, when someone types, or says words that are beneath human dignty at me, they fail in their attempt because i am NOT a word, i , like all others, am the child of a VERY loving God.

She is right in basic theory in that it does not take as much thought to come up with sarcasm and obscenity as it would for a more intelligent answer. I think that sarcasm requires a degree of intelligence that is far more needed than to just spit out an obscenity. I would agree that words only have the power that we give them. Some people in their complicated relationship with another person, express themselves in sarcastic ways at times as a way to cope with the distress they feel. If the people in the relationship only give the power to the words as a way of initially blowing off steam, then the words don't last as a hurtful thing. While this is not the most desirable way to communicate, it has it's place in some circumstances. If we are honest with ourselves, we all resort to this type of communication on occasion. Does not make it right. Just means we are human. As Grandmother used to say, "It is what it is".

Gee is I'z musta be stoupied then er whut...
I'm both sarcastic (extremely) And obscene.... I feel God must like weird people cause he sure made enough of them.
I was born sarcastic. As far as being obscene well I just like to push people's buttons to see what kind of reaction I get.. I'm sure you're grandma would just love me...(sarcasm there)
As far as intelligence goes. Well I'm not book smart but I am very intuitive when it comes to common sense..But I did score
a 119 on a IQ test I took, Which is above average..So tell you're grandmother. Some people just like to have fun with life
I mean what's the point of being serious all the time. That's just no fun... My favorite Quote is "Don't take life so seriously you're not going to get out of it alive anyway"

Not necessarily. Most people I know who are sarcastic and say obscene things are really smart in a sense that they get amazing grades and do amazing things...but there's a difference between being book smart and socially...capable.

These people I know are really book smart, but they're all REALLY insecure. Being sarcastic is the easiest way to make people think you're better than them. It's the easiest but stupidest solution to feeling inferior. As for saying obscene things...it's mostly to get attention.

Your grandmother says it like my father used to say it! Think about it, if you can't think of an intelligent answer, you go for funny or shocking things to reply with. I'm so glad to hear you don't let some of these people get to you! That gives me some encouragement! I've only been on here for a week and was starting to wonder if there was any hopeful and helpful people out there!

sarcasm is a sign of passive agressive behavior. Obscenity is just a matter of personal opinion. For most of us its a sign of a perverse mind.
