I have a Compaq Presario 4508 with a 2.8GB HDD, 45MB of SynchDRam, and an Intel Pentium 200Mhz. I was running Windows 95 on it but I upgraded to 98. I hear Vista is much nicer than 98 so I want to upgrade.

You are going to need an upgrade of everything. you need a bigger hard drive, ram, and a faster processor. if you got the money, you would be better off buying a new computer that has vista on it. good luck!

No you do not. To run Windows Vista Basic you need 512 MB's of Ram at least 128 MB's of video Memory. Your processor would be fine but not the ram. Also to run Windows Vista Premium you need 1 Gig of Ram and 256 MB's of Video Memory. You could upgrade you parts, but I would not recommend doing so. You can practically buy a new laptop for the same price as upgrading.

Sorry for breaking your bubble dude, but your PC does not pass the requirements of upgrading to Vista.. YOur processor should be an intel core duo, memory of at least 1gig, a dvd rom drive and 40++ gig storage space. The vista alone is i think 15 gig. Go with a MAC man, i got one and i'm really glad i did!

Not even remotely close to being Vista ready, my friend.

No need to run any "advisor" to tell if that PC can do it ....
"rchilly2…" gives the best advice ... straight forward & up front.
"Thumbs Up" to her !
