sure you can do it. The 16bz6 vtec is a direct bolt in for the d15b in your del sol.
of course youre going to need the tranny, ecu (if i remember correctly, the 1.5l has the p28 ecu, you need the p08), wiring harness... ya know what... here, this is what is required:

Yes, but you need the computer from the Vtech engine, and you need to run an extra wire or two to work the Vtech solenoid, and maybe from the vtech sensor?
Anyway, the D series single cam vtech will swap right in, mechanically. But you won't see as much performance with your stock transmission as with the one that comes with the vtech engine. luckily, the engine will probably come attached to the transmission, and should bolt right in.
the B series DOHC vtech is where the real power is; it takes a different transmission, axles, shift linkage, etc. the Del Sol came with it one year, so all those parts are available. also needs a special air conditioning compressor bracket that's only for that engine in that car. It's 170 hp, But it's expensive.

Any B-Series engine will fit in the car. The car was designed for the B16 series of motors, but a B16,17,18,20 will all fit.

If you were looking at the H22 (prelude motor), yes, it does require some modification to fit. Not to mention, the H22 is heavier than a B-series, upsetting the suspension setup.

It will fit no problem. That car did come with a B16 VTEC engine for a couple years. Now if you want to go with something like a B18c or H22a then you might have trouble.

why not..? just for your information.. japans big name tuner 'top-fuel' has swap & turbo'd the B18c from the intergra and have the MR (mid engine, rear drive) layout.. instead of normal FF engine layout.. NO KIDDING man.. the engine now sits in the rear boots..
