Any bookstore or major retail outlet sells the Harry Potter series. I think Amazon.com will be your best bet, since the prices are cheaper and you don't have to pay sales tax. You also get free shipping in many cases.
Plus, through Amazon.com, you can pre-order the final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," even though it doesn't come out until this summer. That way, you can get it at the currently offered price even if it goes up before the launch date. And if the price goes down before then, it will automatically reduce you to the lower rate.
With pre-order, you don't get charged until it ships and you won't have to remind yourself to get out there and buy the book. I ordered the last book, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," through Amazon.com and it actually arrived on my doorstep the day before it hit the marketplace!

Get both but don't expect the films to quite have the same thread or amount of detail. If you read just before you watch you will be disappointed but both sets stand alone. The last two 7 & 8 Deathly Hallows far outstrip the others for detail and I wish all of the films had as much care taken over following the books intricate plan. Anyway, you can dip into a Harry Potter book where you are, but spend an evening watching the film or several evenings if you watch them one after the other. Don't lend them without being sure you will get them back either - make a note of who borrows them! This story has got the most reluctant reader reading. I have both and would do without neither! Enjoy!
