yea. im a hockey playa and i think that figure skaters are just a little bit whiney. we got a 1 hour practice and we didnt even skate that hard, when the figure skaters saw the ice after it was resufaced they comlained to the rink manager and made them resurface it again.

Yes skatters blades damage the ice and it is resurfased with a zamboni. This gives every skater a fresh surface and they can't say say the skater ahead of me got a flat surface to skate on and it was all choped up for me. Skatters sharpen there skates and they cut into the ice. The jumps skaters do takes large chunks of ice out of the surface.

All blades dig into the ice and make it too choppy to skate. They resurface the ice with a zamboni to make it smooth enough and safe enough to skate again.

yes it does, and if you watch the figure skating events, you'll notice that the skaters skate in groups of 5 or 6, to enable maintenance to resurface the ice.

i'm guessing, but i imagine that if they didn't resurface it someone would complain that it wasn't a fair competition - the first people got the best ice...
