2. Assuming Windows XP, insert the Windows XP product CD into your CD drive and reboot. As you reboot, when you see "Press any key to boot from CD..." press a key, this will cause the system to boot to the CD instead of the hard drive.

3. Follow the prompts in the Windows XP setup program to format your drive.

4. Reinstall Windows XP.

5. Install all critical Windows Updates (start with XP service pack 2, then go to update.microsoft.com and grab any other Critical or Recommended updates).

6. Restore your files from the backup you made in step 1.

you have to use the cd to reformat your computer because sometimes it may require you to insert cd if you want to reformat your pc without cd.

i you need to have a dos boot disk or a window oprating service
you boot to c:
then type fdisk
the delete partition then create primary partition
then type format c:
