There are fixes for dark circles. Here, some things to try:

Get more sleep. It's the most straightforward step you can take to beat your dark circles. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep a night. Tip: Sleep with your head elevated on a pillow to reduce any puffiness around the eyes.

Add some exercise. Some experts believe that poor circulation is to blame for dark circles, as the blood "pools" under eyes, and shows through the skin as a shadowed area. To help move this pooled blood along and to improve circulation in general, get some aerobic activity every day.

Try an antihistamine. While not a guaranteed fix, an antihistamine to help beat allergy-related dark circles can't hurt!

Go for a special undereye cream. If your circles are caused by pigmentation (from too muchsun or too much rubbing), try a lightening eye cream with an ingredient like hydroquinone. These creams will help fix the pigmentation issue that underlies your circles.

Moisturize. The eye area needs daily moisturization, especially if you have dark circles. That's because dry skin looks dull, which will exacerbate the look of your circles. Use a cream specially formulated for the eye area.

Rely on concealer. If all else fails, take heart in concealer! Look for one with a creamy consistency in a shade that's one step lighter than your skin. Apply with a concealer brush, pat in to blend, and top with powder for staying power.

Cold tea bags or cold compress (gentle) work because cold reduces swelling. Also, Preparation-H does work for reducing swelling as well. Once long ago before I had reason to worry about wrinkles or puffy eyes, the editor of Glamour magazine said the best anti-aging creme she had ever used was Prep-H. No joke. So now I buy and use it for everything on my face. My hubby jokes that using butt creme on my face might make him hesitate to kiss me...but I only use it when he isn't around because the original "ointment" smells strongly of cod-liver oil, which doesn't smell good at all. But I am very impressed with the results. Very. I am 52 and folks assume I am no older than forty. Believe me, I use nothing else.

if you use some scotch tape to pull the skin from the sides of your eyes you'll see a modest improvement in your eyebags. Not only that but it makes you look slightly chinese, yay!
