the england managers job is a thankless task, everyone has an opinion on how it should be done, and even if they had the best manager in the world, the england team ethos is all wrong, turn up and win, some serious changes now.

1, If the team win the manager wins.
2, If the team loses but show a fighting determination the manager ( in most fans eyes) wins.
3, If the team loses and show no commitment or pride the manager is a w*nker and should be sacked (F.A. please take note).
4, Just a note for man u I have been a member of the England supporters club since 1979 and I do not expect to win every game we play or the world cup (although we should be good enough). But what I do expect is real passion on the pitch instead of in the newspapers, see the John Terry interview in Saturdays Sun.

With the talent thats about, England should be one of the best teams in the world. Players like Terry, Ferdinand, Gerrard and Rooney are world class players and England should be a world class team. They are not. Its the managers fault. We are not going to qualify at this rate-McClaren is the cheap option and we all know it, We were better off under Sven!

It's not really about blame, it's about results. A managers job is more than winning a game. It's having knowledge and understanding of the game, the team, the capabilities of players, their strengths and weaknesses, and forging it all together into a constructive way to offer the team the best opportunities and he isn't delivering. It's true the team are not achieving, but with the talent there, there must be underlying causes for the lack of confidence they seem to carry. You know not one of those players gave a more confident or excelling game than another but he has no problems singling out Rooney for the loss. Whether it was Rooney or another player, to humiliate and degrade them in front of their team mates is unprofessional and showed lack of respect and control. Makes me wonder whether he is more concerned about England qualifying or his own need for success.

If England lose against Andorra then England should stop playing football. In fact, if they don't win by 5 clear goals and a clean sheet then something is incredibly wrong with that team and English football.

By winning & winning with some style, or at least with some grit when playing against the better teams.
The problem with McLaren, Sven & so many recent England managers is that they have some good players to pick from but they don't really know their best team. Jack Charlton once told Alf Ramsey that he could not understand why Ramsey always picked him, when there were plenty of better players to pick from. Ramsey just told him "I don't pick the best players, Jack. I pick the best team."
So lets start by playing Gerrard or Lampard but not both ! McLaren needs to be brave but if he continues to mouth platitudes we will miss out on Euro 2008. I hope he starts making the big decisions & proves the Sun wrong... but I have my doubts.

McClaren has no chance in the Job.. with all the pretentious overpaid useless players he is up against... it wasn't McClaren who was on the field it was granny shagger & co.. why dont they just hand the Job to Beckham - I am sure he could wangle it on a part-time basis..

A Football Manager gets praise when his Team Win`s. Which usually happens when a Football Team has faith in their Manager, which sadly is not the case with our Football team. Are you saying that Footballers do not get the blame for Games Lost, if you are I think you are mistaken.

I'm glad. Finally England are performing so lacklustre that commentators will stop getting excited about England winning Euro 2008
