Hi,
My wife's due in June. We're trying to pick a name for our son. We both like name Nathan, but I'm not sure how nice or cool this name is. i wouldn't want my son to be picked on because I choose an improper name for him. So, Nathan: cool or not?

I don't understand why people think children will be picked on because of a name. I knew cool and not cool people with the exact same names (Chris, Matthew, Jon, Nathan), and I went to a small school. Nathan is fine, but pretty common. I wouldn't be surprised if he went to school with a lot more boys with the same exact name. I personally like unique names, so Nathan really wouldn't be on my list of names. If you and your wife like it, go for it. There is no way to predict whether or not your son will be picked on. It has nothing to do with their name. If a kid just isn't cool, kids will find anything to make fun of them with, cool name or no cool name. And really, who wants a cool dumb kid who just follows the crowd. I would prefer my son to be a geek, be intelligent, and think for himself. Just give your son the confidence he needs to live in this world.

Our best friend in the world is Nathan, were considering naming a son after him. It's a great name.

Hmmm I dont think kids would like it. This is speaking from the mind of a young person, and I dont know anybody who really likes that name. I think for boys, common names are better, because boys get teased a lot. Maybe something like Michael or Alex? James or Mitchell?

I ♥ the name Nathan!!! It is a very "cool" name..lol..I have meet alot of white guys named Nathan..So I say go for it!! Great name.

My bro's name is Nathan. We call him Nate for short.
He didn't get picked on. I mean some kids called him Nate the Great. But I don't think that's a bad thing!
