The composition of a nations population is growing increasingly complex. The composition of previous populations in history was relatively simplistic: Where nations were composed of populations with uniform religious, cultural, ideological and somewhat structured society and socioeconomic strata. Todays countries have wide variations of ideology and content within their populations many of which are in contradiction to one another. Government and power of position is then given to individuals who "seem" to represent the majority. However with increasingly complex structure is it not possible that there is no majority ? That the stastical differences between fractions are negligible ? That the election of a leadership from one fraction/ideology is as incorrect and unjust as an election from the myraid others. How than can a leadership be trusted to work for the benifit of all the diverse elements which constitute the population.?. Or does it persue it own agenda or self serving ends?

You describe the problem that is multiculturalism. Race and gender have little to do with it. This is all about the practice of political correctness that grants special rights for special people all in the guise of tolerance. Multiculturalism destroys a rule of law when the intolerance of one segment of the population in forced upon the body of citizens who do not share that cultural purgative. This either creates a dictatorship that holds the segmented society together of allows for a civil war

I don't know that I can answer that in a satisfactory fashion; demagogues serve themselves, not the nation.

BUT, what is happening in America is that eligible voters are too discouraged and disenchanted with the system; compare the numbers of voters with the population figures. A very minor turnout. Some doubt that the elected officials are representing them, and moreso the super rich and powerful and their special interests.

What hope can anyone see when we have demagogues that rather than unite us, will divert attention from the real issues affecting us ALL, and use calculated subterfuges to alienate groups of people, divide us and present us with an Orwellian common enemy (somewhat as Hitler did in Germany when he blamed the Jews for every ill that had befallen on Germany, and he made Jews the common enemy of the German citizen). This has been a very well thought out plan, finely executed and it certainly has had its effect on those who are now screaming and shouting against those who can least protect themselves, those who are the least paid and live in the worse housing conditions... those who have come here to work and raise a family, and pursue the supposed American Dream... who are now outcasts, the supposed illegal aliens, abused by employers (underpaid and overworked without benefits of any kind, they often overpay the going rent and live in substandard housing conditions... in squalor).

Now, we have the situation that in poorer areas, the voting lines are longer (is this a systematic ploy to discourage voters?) particularly when they favor someone who is not the choice of the super rich and powerful... supposed inoperable, broken voting machines while the more affluent precincts have extra voting machines that are barely used. OR, the notion that was shown on Cable TV how a group of people went about proving how the company that supplied the voting machines not only favored the Republic Party, but also rigged the machines to give one and only one result REGARDLESS of the actual votes cast in OHIO and a few other states... the Republicans could not fail under those conditions shown... while government officials (cronies put in cozy, high paying positions) did not want to allow or cooperate to prove or DISPROVE that the voting machines were rigged or not... and all of the shenanigans going on...? OR how people can vote under the assumption that their votes would be counted (like the many that came from Armed Services personnel) and the courts (controlled by the Republicans) and the governor (a Republican and brother of the Republican candidate) had armed personnel intimidating voters...

The super rich and powerful do not pay their fair share of taxes, they own and operate the big businesses... get tax breaks and tax incentives but instead of hiring Americans, they outsource jobs to Third World country where they have sweat shops, paying less than the American Minimum Wage, give the employees no health, medical or dental benefits... have the workers working in overcrowded unhealthy, unsanitary conditions and their products are now overpriced... (my all-time favorite question: "How much is enough?") and yet they weld enormous power over the elected officials.... What's wrong with this picture?

The public is tired and really becoming apathetic with politics, and the dirty tricks, wasteful Pork Barrel Programs for influential politicians to pay off their cronies with lucrative contracts and allow them to profiteer... the secret deals, the lack of competitive contract bidding... cronies getting sweet deals... meanwhile, the poor are living in ever-increasing sub-standard housing throughout the nation, the numbers of homelessness continue to grow, and the American elderly, retired, disabled and very poor are neglected and must decide whether to pay for oil to heat their homes or buy food or buy life-sustaining medicines... and the vets come home wounded to be attended to in sub-standard and dilapidated Vet Hospitals with sub-standard medical and sub-standard health care... but the politicos are living in opulence at the expense of the middle and lower-class working taxpayers!

Every time the public turns around, there's another corrupt politician exposed, or there's yet another politician who thinks he's above the laws, the ethics and morals imposed on the rest of the Nation... whatever happened to the notion that NO ONE is above the law, and NO ONE is above the Constitution and that our Constitution is the Law of the Land? WHY are some elected officials refusing to answer under oath when others have done so...? Where is the fairness and justice we were all brought up to believe existed in America?

No one can be trusted today, certainly not the politicians who are nothing more than demagogues and puppets for the super rich and powerful, lying, cheating and misrepresenting the truth and misleading the public with blatant lies and misinformation... and the religious leaders are no better off, each vying for their own personal agenda to enrich themselves and weld and abuse their limited powers over their "sheep" by using fear tactics and fictitious dogmas and exaggerated half-truths and lies and plain old-fashioned demagoguery!

How can the public trust any one or any group of elected officials with so much corruption and little means for the public to correct these when those elected officials have passed laws protecting THEM and putting them presumably above the laws of the land, making them think that they are above the Constitution?

People often SEEM amused when I say that this is no longer a democratic republic but a Plutocracy.. a government run by the agents of the super rich and powerful for the benefit of the super rich and powerful... they laughed hysterically a few years ago, and now they laugh NERVOUSLY as they see the truth behind the supposed madness.

We are a nation of LAWs. That is supposed to negate the majority of issues that you list.

Under our system of SELF-GOVERNANCE, all are equal under the law. Beyond that, we are (should be) free to exercise our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Only when a country such as ours subverts its own constitution in favor of democracy can the inequalities you mention flourish to the level that we are seeing today.

Is there a "perfect" government? Probably not, and so you will always have situations of inequality. But the best hope of reducing the amount of inequalities is by ensuring that we, self-governing citizens insist that our federal and state governments adhere to only those powers given them by our constitution.

When we allow the government to stray outside that fence, the all bets are off and you will see a general increase in inequality regardless of attempts to turn a pigs ear into a satin purse.

An integrated, mutually contributory ,relationship oriented international format will emerge, replacing the present face of complexity and controversies out of compulsion.
Survival of the fittest still applicable to individuals as well as nations. The game is already visible in international arena.
Every one is afraid of one another, each showing their muscle in their way.

The international communities , will take up the issues and solution well emerge, ofcourse only after paying a price.

From my experience, there's no real point to democracy when ignorance is celebrated. Ever think about the fact that political scientists get the same one vote as some Arkansas in-bred? What I'm trying to say is that a one-vote system doesn't work anymore. Nobody's vote can really account for their pure ideological beliefs. If we were to say that, then we would have as many presidential candidates as we do populus. Our system worked 200 years ago, but after slavery and women's suffrage, it kind of went downhill.

Well thought out and asked question. I do also believe that while diverse populations bring a lot of good qualities to a country it does also bring problems as you have implied. For the reasons implied by your questions I feel it is a must that immigrants into a country be required to meet and live by certain standards set by the country they are entering.

The leader is elected by all factions, groups and myraid others. He is supposed to work within the frame work of the constitution, for the maximum good of the maximum number of people irrespective of groups, factions, ideologies etc. etc. At the end, he is supposed to justify all his actions and decisions to the public that has imposed confidence in him.
