Im doing an essay about the photographer Brassai, and I need to discuss what Paris was like in the 1930's. I need to know what society was like, views towards women.. and men... postitutes, fashion, what was acceptable and what was taboo. If any one can give me any help it would be much appriciated!
Many thanks

acceptance was the theme in Paris,,,,,,many espatriates, like gertrude stein went to paris to write, she dressed as a man and was totally accepted..........i think of it this way.....paris was the hot spot were ppl could be themselves and not worry about judgment, and fitting in.............the arts took off and many other famous americans were there for expression and acceptance......the us was under a 'temperance' state,,,,,,,,,nothing was accepting, well nothing out of the norm was..........paris was what the us should be now totally free and free toexpress whatever adn whenever
