Why do Cops hate Stoners?

Question

Why do so many cops, most of whom have smoked weed themselves at some point in their lives, get such a thrill out of arresting pot smokers?
Could it be that pot smokers are usually not violent so that it is less trouble to arrest them than a real criminal?
Does it make cops feel big and important to rough up the average skinny, stoner, high school kid?

Why waste time and money prosecuting a victimless minor drug offense? Surely our society has more important problems than weed? How about murder, rape, theft, arson, gang violence, child abuse, and all the other nasty things that people do to each other.

When police waste their time busting one teen out of the thousands that are smoking weed, or handing out tickets for minor traffic offences it makes many citizens loose respect for the law. Why because it takes time and EFFORT to solve serious crime.

We should revolt and do something... Do you agree?

I would agree that cops hate stoners but also hate young kids in nice cars and many other stupid little things..different cops will feel strongly towards different types of infractions..the same cop who will let you slide on blowing a .007 might ticket someone for speeding 5 m.p.h over the limit. I don't smoke weed but would have to agree it should be legalized, it is less dangerous than alcohol and tabacco and prescription drugs...Katt williams said in his stand up.." no one has ever died from smoking weed..but take 12 tylenols and you will have your last headache!"

I think it's fair to look at the stereotypical stoner, someone who's lazy and unproductive, as a bad person. They just smoke weed and leech off the society. However, there are many people who enjoy marijuana in moderation who are successful and contributing members of society. The key here is moderation, as with anything. Also I think it could be some repressed psychological thing where the stoner is out enjoying life to the fullest, and people are jealous because they are a slave to corporate America, and they hate you for it. And that they're brainwashed to think cannabis is an insanity inducing drug that only Mexicans and the "******" smoke. Move somewhere else that is more progressive.

Unfortunately it's against the law.. I highly doubt if they are just picking on him or actually anyone else. Yes it is a minor crime in my eyes too, but so are many of the reasons people get tickets and minor infractions. Cops are not there to prioritize crimes just ticket or arrest those who break them. The justice system is the one who imposes the penalties upon the severity of the crime. So basically what I am saying is the cop are just there to enforce the law, and the justice system then decides what the penalty will be. The cops would not be doing their job if they play judge and jury out there and decide what laws are important and what laws aren't.

Simple answer. Cops hate stoners because Stoners hate Cops.
Respect the law and dont give the cop a hard time. Cops do bust the major offenders (child abusers. rapists, wife beaters, drug kings, arsonists..the list goes on) but there are far fewer smaller crimes to deal with in the big picture.
Be honest with the cop, and if he finds dope in your car, tell him its yours, not some mysterious friend who doesnt exist. They wont believe you. If youre not a creep, then you wont get treated like one. Simple.

You're making the legalize-marijuana argument, and while I don't share your perspective on that, I do agree that more emphasis should be placed on violent law-breakers, rather than passive law-breakers.

I know it may be hard to believe sometimes, but many cops are hardworking men and women who really do want to help their communities. It's tough to be popular when you're giving people tickets and sending people to jail, you know?

I could be wrong, but I think weed IS ILLEGAL! If you want to smoke out, thats fine. Don't don't get mad at the system that has been in place way before you decided to get stoned. Come on homie! How about being harrassed simply because you're a minority?
