To have a period after coming off the birth control pill? I came off the pill on February 24 (that was the last sugar pill) and I have not had a period since (so it's been five weeks since my last period). I know that it takes some time for your body to get back to normal, but I was just curious as to what other people's experiences were. Of course I'm so impatient because I want to be pregnant now!

For me it only took a couple of wks of being off the pill before I was pregnant. My ob/gyn has told me before that what happened to me is kind of rare b/c it usually takes a good 3 mos. before you're body's on it's own schedule and ready to conceive. If you haven't gotten your period yet and have a suspicion that you're pregnant, go ahead and take a test. Also, make an appt. w/ your ob/gyn so you can go over any helpful tips he/she may have for you and your husband/boyfriend/whatever to assist you in conceiving quickly. The most important thing is to relax and just have fun having sex! If you go into it w/ the purpose of baby-making, it may take longer for you to conceive b/c it's putting pressure on yourself and your mind may play tricks on your body. Besides, wouldn't it be great to embarress your child as a teenager and tell them they were conceived while Mommy and Daddy were playing rich mistress and poolboy? I can't wait for the day I can embarress my kids! Woo-hoo!

I went off birth control about three years ago after only taking it for one year. About three weeks after I stopped taking the pill, I had slight spotting and I felt like I was pregnant. It turns out that it takes a while for those hormones to leave your body so it can return to normal. Four weeks after the spotting, I had my normal period. My doctor said that the spotting was a period because the hormones were still in my system, which caused a light period. I still had him to an HCG test for pregnancy though.

It varies from person to person. Do you remember what your old cycle was? When I first went off the pill it was 30+ days later that I got my period, similar to my old pre-pill cycle.
You'll be pregnant soon enough. I was off the pill had one period and I got pregnant my next cycle!
Even if you're having your period, don't be discouraged, it'll allow you to pinpoint more accurately your ovulation.
