It would be more appropriate to have a passport.But you can also travel with eec card or driving licence.

Find someone with a passport. Look at it. It says the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The answer's no if you are a UK citizen.

A few years ago I flew to Scotland, via England and YES....you DO need a passport because going anywhere International you need a travel Visa.

It wouldn't hurt to have it, but are you English going to Ireland? I know that if I an a US citizen, I need that passport

Most airlines as for photo id these days so I'd take it to be on the safe side.

You would be better off going on a plane.To fly that distance your arms will get very tired.
