it is very hard to tame a juvinile to early adult iguana but not impossible. it takes alot of time in handling and earning their trust. you should start out with about 15 minutes of handling for 2 days then add 5 to10 minutes each dayafter till you can get in about an hour each day you can brake it up into 15 minutes each time but eventually try and get in 30 min to an hour in a sitting. once you can get him to stay with you without fighting you for an hour just one time you probably now have his trust. you can attempt to hand feed him treats after a few days of working on him. use something special i used bananas mine love them. when you begin the procedure use a towel to wrap him up in and wear a pair of gloves if need be. you should also file his nails lightly with an emory board to take the hook off my vet uses a dremel and for no charge so I let him do it. but it will help protect you and him in the long run. until you build some trust that he won't get away sit indian style on the floor so that if he does jump out he only has 4-6 inches to fall. speak softly he will feel the vibrations in your voice while you feed him small pieces of banana with your gloved hand. he may still try to bite you so using leather gloves will protect you better but limit your motion. you can try to feed him using a toungue depressor or a popsicle stick. as you gain more trust you can slowly unwrap the towel after a few days just to see how he does. if he regresses put it back on. keeping him close to the floor it helps with his feeling of falling also. eventually he will forget you were ever a danger to him and relate you to good old bananas. it takes time but it is not impossible be patient and understanding. he is a wild animal and you are trying to get him to do something "not natural" good luck oh ya do everything in slow motion. no sudden movements get all kids and other pets out of the room keep stimuli to a minimum no tv or radio in background

im not sure about iguanas i never had one but i have had chameleons, dogs, cats, horses, even a mongoose we rescued until it was nursed back to health and we set her free. Fact is fact your animal is a wild animal and like all wild animals you need to do your research and learn the personality of your pet, that way you can display you are the dominate one. once you do that your pet iguana will stop trying to whip you every time you wanna hold it.

we have two iguanas, they're both big now, but they're just hard to tame. some days they sit still while you hold them and other days they just dont want to be held. it's hard to tame a wild animal.

it seems like you shouldn't "train" a wild animal. Love him as he is
