The best in ring performer ever is Shawn Michaels. John Cena can do maybe six moves. He wouldn't be in any true wrestling fan's top ten. Hogan ignited a generation of wrestling fans, but he was never a great wrestler. he just had the charisma and ability to work a crowd. Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Kurt Angle and The Rock are other great in-ring performers. I'd put Edge, Undertaker and HHH into the decent category.

Bret the Hitman Hart, the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be, who else could go from a brilliant technical iron man match one year at Wrestlemania and then the very next steal the show again in a brutal street fight?

Stone Cold Steve Austin.
I have a few more in my list. But I will attribute the reason as to why WWE is still in existence to Austin. He saved the company from losing to the rival WCW during Ted Turner/Eric Bischoff time.
Hell yeah!
