Because you have an insecurity in yourself. Your feeling is not uncommon. I would suggest you focus on your own desires and strive to be the best you can be. When somebody is not proud of their own accomplishments they tend to focus on others. Be proud of yourself today. Look forward to what you have to offer in the future. Simply put refocus your attention on what you are doing and not what someone else is doing. And give praise to your friends for the good they do.

I give up, why would you want your friend to fail at any thing.

Isn't it better to be around friends who excel at what ever they do, wouldn't you rather be around winners so to speak than losers? Maybe when they don't do well, it makes them look like losers to you and that makes you feel Superior to them. So you see your self as so much better than them.

Personally I'd rather see my friends excel at what ever they do, since I love my friends for the people that they are. I always wish the best for my friends, but then that's just how I am.

If you want your friend to fail its because of jealousy and not wanting them to succeed in life. You feel as if you should have more and that they should not. You are not a true friend if you are feeling this way. How would you feel if someone didn't want you to succeed?

Jealousy of what they have? Fear that they will be successful and leave you behind? You feel like a failure and want their company?
