ok .. i'm a 35 yr old woman who is desperate to get back to ohio from south carolina..any serious suggestion????

Definitely NOT hitch-hiking. Sure you could, and you would probably make it alive, whether or not unscathed another issue.... hopefully you are not seriously considering it.
Here are some ideas and suggestions:
Amtrak or Greyhound ... likely around $120 ... but I didn't look it up. If you don't have the money, consider asking a friend or relative, or go to a local church. You could ask 5 or 6 friends to loan you $25 each ....then be sure to pay them back as soon as you can.
Contact a local trucking company and see if any of the drivers can help ... this also is risky ... but a possible option.
Do you have anything you can sell on ebay or the like?
Go to a temp agency and get a few days of temp work.
