Don't let the b******s get you down. You owe them no explanation. Look at them disdainfully as if they were the idiots. If you feel it necessary to comment, point out that statiscally, homeschooled children score higher than regular children almost any test.
Homeschooling was not for my family but if it works for yours, go for it.

Most homeschoolers--of whatever persuasion--are not stupid, but on the contrary are among the most intelligent, highly motivated people on the planet. Even when I disagree with their motives, I have to admit this. That being said, there is a small minority of home schoolers who do it for strictly negative reasons, i.e. to protect their kids from what they see as bad influences "out there." For these individuals, home schooling is just an excuse to keep their kids out of school. Often they have no training or motivation to educate their kids at all, and a school day may consist of leaving their kids in front of the TV while they go and work or shop. I'm not making this up. This is especially common in the South, where it may be racially motivated. These are the people who give support to the unfair assumptions many have about home schoolers.

Public schools vary widely in the quality of education given. Likewise, home schooling varies widely in it's success. Unfortunately, people have a natural tendency to look at anything different as being bad. While home schooling is becoming more common, the majority continues to be, and probably always will be, in the public school system.

You should discuss your feelings, not only of home schooling, but of ostracization with your parents. Home schoolers often feel left out.

There are some disadvantges to public schooling and there are some advantages. There are some advantages and disadvantages to home schooling as well. You're old enough to engage your parents in an open dialog of the pluses and minuses and maintain an open mind as to which is better for you.

I know 7 or 8 homeschoolers and the majority of them are rude! They say things that they shouldn't say, but they don't even know that they are mean! I am not saying all homeschooled people, actually, my good friend was and she is great. I don't think that homeschooled people are stupid, I just have seen them not be good in social situations.I would never treat anyone like they are stupid, I just thought that I could help you out.

Don't despair. I have 3 home schooled children . The oldest went through the 2nd grade in public school, the next two never went. The last one graduates this year. Neither are stupid, normal but not stupid. On average, home schooled students score above private schooled students and far above public schooled students on national standardized test. This is a matter of public record. Many colleges actually seek out home schooled students because of their relative maturity and focus on academics. All 3 of my children did well and are normal. I know many who have done exceptional. I have one friend who has a son that went directly into graduate school after high school-no college. Another finished college (accredited national university) in 18 months. His mom would not let him go to college until he was 14! She was afraid he was too young , and not ready to face the world. There is nothing wrong with home school. If you don't waste your time-you will be years ahead of public schooled students.

Because homeschooling in many places has no standards that parents have to meet. Here in CT, you can pretty much get away with teaching whatever you like as long as you provide proof of intent. You don't even have to have kids tested here.

Unless you have medical problems or live a great distance from schools (rare,) you should be in school, whether public or private to make sure standards are being met. Also, if there are learning disabilities that aren't so obvious, students can be screened for those in both types of schools and get the assistance they need. Homeschooling doesn't cut it in that case, and it teaches children that they can pretty much do what they want, that they don't have to do what other people do and are somehow above them. That doesn't cut it either.

All of the homeschooled children I've met personally (12 of them from 5 different families) have absolutely no inter-personal skills at all. They are rude, opinionated, bigoted and extremely unpleasant to be around. All of these children mentioned are home-schooled for religious (Christian) reasons, perhaps that has something to do with their bigotry.
I can't speak to their intelligence level because I've never been able to get past their rudeness.

Home schooled children are only as good as their teacher. Some home schooled children excel and obtain a very well-rounded education, many at levels above what public schools offer. But others do not receive a good enough education in the basics and struggle.

Since we have no idea what you have been taught, some feel you are getting a slanted, truncated education; whatever your parents will allow you to learn. Thus, you are not getting all you need

(We both know that is a pile of malarkey, but images are hard to shake)

why are you treated bad? maybe it is your lack of social skills that has gotten you in this situation......in public school kids tease, apologize, and go on,,,,,,,,,,,perhaps that is what you are experiencing......a homeschooled child lacks several coping skills that children in public/private school get everyday, nevermind the stimulation and interaction........you have to develop a tough skin, because to them you are seen as different.........teens are teens...............they all make fun of something.........all teens are insecure and trying to find their identity in the world, so just lash back at them and keep on, but dont expect it to stop.......that is just how kids are
