Yes. It's not "bad", but it is an indication of sounding less "cultured" when the response is "yeah".
Another thought to consider is that habits can be difficult to change. As time goes by, you may find it difficult to say "yes", even if you want to change your response.
Also, it is easy to tell a lot about a person by the way they speak.
Do you remember the play that became "My Fair Lady"?

I got a job at a forturne 500 company and from that point on I would reply with a very clear crisp YES. I guess if you are in a ghetto the same would apply with yeah

I say both. It just depends. I usually say yeah to my friends and yes to adults. I don't see anything wrong with yeah though. It means the same thing as yes.

i think it would really depend on the person you're talking to. 'yes' is a formal way of affirming something while 'yeah' is kind of informal. older people would probably prefer someone answering to them using 'yes' and find 'yeah' kind of disrespectful. personally, i say 'yeah'. it's a lot easier to say and, so far, i haven't encountered anyone getting offended by it.

Yes it is bad, not really bad, but inappropriate, it depends on the question and who's asking. Is what I think.

Yeah, is the lazy form of yes, ma'am or yes, sir. We should all speak the correct way...but, there is a lot of slang and bang words thrown around...
