if you loose your car keys for a 10yr old car do you go to a locksmith or car dealership for a replacement?

I would say a locksmith. There is no chip in a key that old. The dealer will tell you to call a locksmith.

a friend of mine lost his keys 2 weeks ago to a 87 bmw and got a replacement key from dealer in 3 days for $14. good luck

locksmith may be cheaper than a dealer
they will come to you and make a key for it
