If it's really rumpled, then I would think the person was disheveled, nervous, in a hurry and/or just plain lazy. A well ironed shirt shows that the person cares about their appearance, they have positive self esteem, and they give off an air of professionalism that is lost when the shirt is not ironed.

Untidy.
I don't let my husband wear un-ironed shirt even if the fabric says non-iron.

A lazy slob who has no respect for himself!!!!! - or the person he is going out with! Obviously has low self esteem and lacks confidence as there is no excuse for looking scruffy..

Personally, when I am wrinkley I feel messy. I always think the people with wrinkley shirts are messy and lazy.

Coming from a iron free household I probably wouldn't notice. However if I did I'd think "horray, another person who isn't a slave to chores" :o)
