Did anyone get professional maternity pictures taken and if so what did you wear? My husband has been taking pictures throughout my pregnancy but we are going tonight to get professional pictures (I am 36 1/2 weeks) done and I dont know what to wear. We are going to jcpenneys and they told us to wear long sleeved dark solid colors but all the maternity pics I have seen online everyone has light shirts on.

The dark makes you look smaller/ skinnier, but if the purpose of your pictures is to show off your pregnancy- wear whatever you're comfortable in, and think you look nice in.

I'm going to JC Penney for my pictures too! I don't know if I'll want to wear a dark top, as my baby will be a summer baby (due in June). On the store's website, the couples are wearing white tops, I believe. I think that it's a personal preference, but I would rather wear a light color as well, so that my pregnancy will really make me "glow." It's up to you, so be a fussy woman and try on a few outfits beforehand. Good luck and congrats. I'm sure your pictures will be beautiful no matter what.

the recommendation for dark colors is pretty normal for photography sittings..it tends to de-emphasize the clothing and bring out your faces (because you're not spending all that money to take a picture of your clothes). Solids are best because lively patterns can be distracting.

basically, wear what you feel beautiful in...if it's light, request a dark background, as that will emphasize your silhouette--vice versa if you wear dark, request a light background.

Congratulations, and hey, I'm RIGHT there with ya! 36 1/2 weeks! Happy rest of the pregnancy!

I had a really nice one done wearing a white muslin dress, I had clever lighting behind it so you could see my bump through the material, it was really pretty!

I prefer light colours, as dark makes you look thinner and means that your bump doesn't stand out so much - the whole point of a maternity photo is to show it off!!

If they said wear dark, do so, but maybe you could take a light change of clothes and speak to them about it when you are there, I'm sure they'll accommodate to everyone's tastes.

Congrats and good luck! :-)

i personally would wear black to make me look smaller b/c i'm as big as a house....lol but whatever your wear is up to you. in the pics i've seen online most of the women have white sheet-like skirts on and a tube top type bra on with their whole belly showing. kind of angelic looking!

Wear what you want to wear and what makes you feel good. Wear something comfortable that you like. Then find something to match for your hubby. Congrats! You're almost there.
