It's an Acer Aspire Notebook and my MP3 is an iitronics. On my old laptop I would just plug it into the USB port and it would appear in the drives but with this laptop anything plugged into the USB port, including a printer, generates a programme to install and requests a disk or download. I have never had a disc with the MP3 and as for the printer when you begin the installation process it tells you a printer is not connected.

Please help!

check the manufacturers site
failing that you may not actually need any software
most modern MP3 players including IPox are USB aware devices.. normally they appear as a USB drive.

its very rare that you need specific drivers or software, trhe manufacturers software may give you something extra (ease of manging your MP3 library or a tighter integration bewteeen devices

Give us a little more info, when you say new laptop is asking for software to install mp3 player are you trying to hookup your ipod or something like that to your new pc? If you can't find the cd that you used to install the software try and check on the mp3 vendors website they should have it available there. If you still can't find it send their tech support an email requesting it. If they still can't find it do a search on driverguide.com they may have it there. Also post back your make and model of mp3 player we may be able to help a little more if we have that info.
