I'm from India. I was shocked when someone told me that extramarital affairs are more common in USA. I have always believed that extramarital affairs is logically much more possible only in societies such as India where loveless arranged marriages happen more than normal marriages springing from dating and relationships.

No they are not more common in America it is just that they are not as accepted here as in other cultures and Americans are very nosy and like to be in everyone esles business ...so everyone tells on everyone who is doing it.

It's human nature of a lesser sort that prompts people worldwide to have extramarital affairs.
I've never had one myself and don't intend to.

I'm sure it's rampant everywhere. In France, it is well known that married men cheat on their wives. It is part of their culture, their philosophy. I have heard it is common in Latin cultures also. Although it's common in America, I don't think that we are the only culture that has this problem.

Actually I thought it was more prevalent in Europe, where it is acceptable to have people on the side.....no disrespect intended for our European friends, it is just something I always thought.

marriage was INVENTED for economic reasons in the first place, so it only follows that where there is more money, there will be more infidelity
