Why do you think that Diane isn't a good friend? Is there any more information you should be giving out so we can make a judgement on this? It sounds to me like Diane was just saying what she felt and being genuine-but you're the one who knows her. I am curious as to why this is still bothering you if it happened "a few months back"-maybe it's time you moved on.

Maybe Diane didn't want to hear any more about how "great" Sue was for helping? Maybe you just talk too much and that was her "subtle" way of telling you? Or, maybe it's all about Diane...

Maybe Diane feels guilty and that is why she didn't say anything more, but maybe she had other things on and was busy at the time of the burglary?Or maybe she just didn't think. You know Diane better than we do, maybe she will make up for it by doing something else for you.

Some people simply do not have it in them to jump up and lend a helping hand. The way people are raised plays a huge factor. My parents pounded in to us to lend a helping hand where ever we see it is needed even if we have no clue in what needs to be done.
We have had 10 exchange students and this is very evident in other cultures as well. Some will run to you to help and others will sit there waiting for you to ask for help.
Don't think to harsh of Diane for she may only know what she was taught and may not be catching on when others jump in and help. Some people pick up on it easier than others.
: )
Happy Spring !

If you had already cleaned up, then it was too late for Diane to help. Maybe she didn't think about it in time to help. Maybe she has so many other things on her plate that she couldn't. Think about how many times you could have helped someone and didn't. Give her a break!

maybe there are circumstances that you dont know about with Diane. Maybe she was having a bad day, or maybe she felt a little jealous that Sue was there for you and Diane wasnt.

She probably wants to be but maybe feels like her role has been usurped if previously you had been closer to her rather than Sue.Of course this incident isn't about her so you don't have to molly coddle her but just ask her for help that only she can give you so she feels like you need her as well, that she's indispensable to you.

Diane probably thought that you were just sounding out all your friends to come over and give you free help.
Which, apparently, you were.
so who is really good friend? Hmmmmmm? (imagine I am arching my eyebrow).
