Ocean City and the Wildwoods are very family friendly. My husband and I have spent a lot of time at the Jersey shore, dating back to our childhoods, and it's always been a good time. Driving between shore towns in the summer, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, can be tricky, but otherwise you can pick one spot and do lots of day trips from there if you're interested.

Some of our favorite places are Long Beach Island, Brigantine Beach, Cape May, Wildwoods and Ocean City.

Lots of shore towns are really nice, Cape May in particular. I'd also recommend visiting Princeton, Lambertville and some of the historic Revolutionary War sites in Morris County in and around Morristown.
