I've always either taken pamprin or exedrin for my cramps which at times can keep me in bed, when i was younger before i got on any kind of birth control i used to have cramps that would keep me up all night long and nothing but my mothers heavy pain medication would make the pain lesson so i could sleep. then i got on birthcontrol and i stopped having cramps all togather until after i had my baby and stopped taking the bc then they came back agian. So i would suggest that if your cramps are really bad i would get on some type of birth control. I would go see your doctor because he can decide which type will be best for your problem. Good luck =)

I have the same problem and midol could never touch my cramps. The only thing that I have found to help is ibuprofen - and it's best to take it before the cramps get really bad if you can. The first day is always the worst for me so I take it every 4 hours. I also find that if I couldn't get the ibuprofen before my cramps get really bad taking a hot bath helps too. I usually take 600-900 mg of ibuprofen, which is about 3 capsules. Hope that helps!
Also, being on birth control never helped ease my cramps. Try the ibuprofen to see if that works first before taking hormones.

Birth control does not necessarily control the cramps. I had the same problem years ago and the doctor told me (exact words),"Get off your butt and exrcise". He told me to do sit-ups,stretches,walking, running. Any extra movement can help. Just give it a shot and see. My doc did not believe in handing out pills. He was great. Good luck. Oh, by the way, these might increase your flow at first, even make your flow last longer or shorter, but it does work great.

When I get really bad cramps, I make sure I drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. If you lay on your side it can help relax some of those muscles in your stomach. You can also try laying in a hot bath, like you would to soak sore muscles. These usually help me and I get really bad ones most of the time- hope it helps.

birth control is good because you can skip periods i used to have crippling pains the only thing that worked for me was nurofen as it has ibuprofen which is an anti inflamotory. Also it is best if u see a doctor so they can rule out stuff like endimetriosis as that can cause painful periods.

When I had periods the best solution I found was through the herb Alchemilla , infuse it as a tea, or buy it dried, start a couple of days before your period is due and stop near the end of it, never failed me.

some birth control can help....but everyone is different...as for the cramps, try a hot bath, loose fitting clothes....and if you can sit with your legs open....or cross legged with your thighs apart....am trying not to sound rude...but sitting like thay always helped me feel better from cramping....and i used to get it to the point of almost fainting....hope it feels better....talk to you doctor....if your cramping is alway that bad there are things they can give you to help

Go jogging or walking....it helps. Just to keep the blood flowing...laying down will only make it worse.
