Why not if you can ? It all depends on how healthy you are; by that I mean, do you get sick often ? Do you need to go to the Doctor often ? The danger of course, at this point, is that your age and not your overall condition, becomes, or rather is "made" into a problem. If I were you, I would trust only People who do not see me as a "necessary" complication. Be careful of Doctors - be very cautious in your choice of Care-Givers. Good Luck !

Most likely everything will be fine. The longer you wait, however, there is an increased likelihood of down syndrome.
"Maternal age influences the risk of conceiving a baby with Down syndrome. At maternal age 20 to 24, the risk is 1/1490; at age 40 the risk is 1/60, and at age 49 the risk is 1/11.[12] Although the risk increases with maternal age, 80% of children with Down syndrome are born to women under the age of 35,[15] reflecting the overall fertility of that age group. Other than maternal age, no other risk factors are known. There does not appear to be a paternal age effect."

A healthy woman with good care and an ok from her doctor can conceive and bear a normal child. Your doctor should have made you aware of the risk factors of increased genetic/health problems involved in delayed pregnancies. If you are blessed with a child, a mature person should be able to accept what God determines you can handle and accept the child as is.
At 36, I was very early in my pregnancy with my 3rd son. (Did not know it yet) I was undergoing tests for possible onset of bone cancer. I worried my whole pregnancy that something would go wrong/end up wrong. I had options presented but decided against the negative ones and to proceed to the end with my eyes open. Unaware of a multiple pregnancy in the months ahead, I lost one of the twins at 3 mos and gave birth to a healthy close to 10 lb boy a week after my due date, He is one of the 3 joys of my life, smart, high honors, award winning, and community oriented on his way to becoming a great lawyer. Do not hesitate, go for it.....I did!!!
My thoughts and best wishes are with you in all you decide....

Yes, but it is normal to feel concern. I'm 36 and trying for my second and was worried that I am too old. Your question has helped me because my reaction is go for it and good luck! Just make sure you see your doctor regularly and get tests done to make sure your baby is ok.:o)
