Well, to be quite frank, starting a war is something pretty new for Americans.

I mean, we started the Revolutionary War, and won that, of course. But after that, we pretty much were either attacked, or involved ourselves into an already-existing foreign conflict.

The War of 1812 and the Mexican War are good examples of us being attacked by a foreign nation. The Spanish-American War was either provoked, or an accident. Either way, we won that too.

WWI saw us getting involved in someone else's war. WW2 we were attacked, so it was more our war.

Korea and Vietnam saw us getting involved in already-existing conflicts for political reasons.

Many say that Saddam started the first Gulf War with his invasion of Kuwait.

And that brings us to today. I don't know yet how the history books will write this one. But, yes, it's possible that history may record this as the first war the US started that it didn't win.

That is not true. America won in Germany. We did not start that war, but Hitler did. We won the war with Japan, so where are you getting this information ? This is a good example on the false Propaganda slammed against America. As an Englishman, go and read your History Books and you will also see how America and England has stood side by side. Too much false propaganda. I was hoping England would not do that to us. Nothing new , under the sun. Peace be with you.

the yankee war of Independence wasn't somewhat a war in any respect. there have been some fairly small skirmishes and interior the main, the settlers did no longer even help the rebels. sarcastically, those rebels may well be termed 'insurgents' in right this moment's language! It grew to become into defined as a war in basic terms to offer the fledgling us of a a feeling of identity and purpose. actually if each physique won that conflict, it would be lore precise to declare the French did, because it grew to become into their defense force that pushed decrease back the British forces. something the 'insurgents' might desire to in no way have carried out. to maintain a stability to the communicate, it is going to be stated that the lives and money the individuals invested interior the 2nd international war grew to become into immeasurably effectual.

No, but they successfully murdered the indians, robbed Mexico of most of its richest soil, then started killing each other, and when that was over, they found Korea, then Vietnam, where they willfully murdered millions of men women and children, which they are now doing again in Iraq.

Ask yourself, if you were Iran, and had read modern history, or even read the papers recently, would you be developing Nuclear arms.

Errrr, ummmm, come on, and sadly, YES is the answer.

America is, for the most part, full of foul mouthed, ill educated, non-cultured, nasty little trots, hell bent on killing and robbing whatever they see and want.

They have always been this way, they are now and will not stop until, in the way of the Roman Empire, they get toppled by emerging people, keen to throw the shackles of murdering despots off their backs.

As with all evil empires, the dark night for America looms.

It's a question of semantics as to who set off the chain of events to start a war. There are always provocations, whether universally accepted or more disputed.

Many would say that the current Iraq conflict is the continuation of the 1991 Gulf War, as Saddam violated the cease fire terms.

Others would claim that the US allied itself with Britain long before Germany ever declared war on the US, through lend-lease.

Sorry, I can't relate well to the question.

Yeh.. we did and the one we celebrate the most is kicking your *** twice.. we started that one and finished it..and basically it was the end of the great British empire once word got out a small band of people calling themselves Americans beat the crap out of the mighty English.

We thank your for fathers for lining up in neat rows and marching in columns for us .. It made it all the easier..

And WILLIAM, Umm we didn't start the Korean conflict the UN asked us for help and I believe the Britsh were there as well so "IF" our butts were kicked so were yours. check your history books once again.. The UN stopped only when China got involved and sent like 1 million soldiers across the border, we pushed them all the way back to the line wich is drawn to this day because of a nuke threat. We still Owe them one for that after we save them from Japan in WW2.

They have a good sense of timing - always coming into the war after the enemy is nearly beat, finish it and claiming the victory. Most of the US soldiers in Iraq - the cannon fodder - are Hispanic (Spanish) and aliens hoping to get the green card by going there. Ironic that they are being abused.

American Wars
French/Indian war we were still part of Britain so it doesn't count.
Revolutiion: Qustionable as to who started but we won.
Civil war: 1/2 won and 1/2 lose. The one that started lost.
Mexican war, again a toss up as to who started but we won.
Spanish-American war we started we won. (We actually started but blamed it on Spain)
World War1 was a war primarily in Europe we did not start but helped win
World War 2 we were attacked by Japan and our Merchant marines were attacked by Germany who ultimately declared war on us We won
Korea was a police action and we were there on behalf of the UN. Stalemate
Vietnam another police action that we escellated we lost
Several small conflicts have existed throughout history we won or helped someone else win all of those
Iraq (Gulf War I) We were asked by Kuwait through the UN to help them repel Saddam Hussein. We drove Hussein back to Iraq as was our mission.
Iraq (Gulf WarII) We attacked a soverign nation who was no threat to us. We are still fighting. We may or may not win.

Yes we won several that began of foreign soil. Germany declared war on the USA in 1941, we beat them. No we didn't start WW2....but we ended it. If we were to wait for the Brits to win it....it would still be going on.

We won the Mexican-American War in Mexico. The Spanish American War in Cuba. We defeated the Barbary Pirates in Libya. We beat Panama in Panama. The list goes on and on and on.

And we beat the British...twice.
